Litigation and Trademark Legal Assistant
Specific Job Duties
- Organize and maintain case files, including photocopying, filing, typing, and updating case indices.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of trademark applications, renewals, and responses.
- Research, retrieve, collect, and compile case materials for use by attorneys and experts.
- Assist as needed with trial preparation, including trial exhibits, witness notebooks, and pleadings.
- Address all aspects of discovery, including drafting form pleadings.
- Prepare motions, pleadings, and declarations.
- Open files for new matters and follow attorney directives regarding case and client guidelines.
- Manage attorney calendar including meetings, professional conferences, events, depositions, case schedules, and all rules-based deadlines (for varying jurisdictions).
Required Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft software.
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate in person, by email and telephone to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
Physical Capabilities
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
Education & Experience
- Associate or undergraduate degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.
- Trademark experience is a plus but not required. Training for trademark-related tasks can be provided.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
Normal Work Hours
Regular office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work may occasionally require more than 37.5 hours a week to perform the essential duties of the position.
The pay range for this position is $71,000 – $98,000 (salary ranges vary based on skills and overall experience). We offer a dynamic work environment and excellent benefits.
