Lifetime Achievement Award: This is a special award given to a LMBA member for a lifetime of service to LMBA and the African American community.
Community Service Award: This award is presented to a lawyer, non-lawyer, or law firm who has given back to LMBA, the African American community, or the community at large in a meaningful way.
Trailblazer Award: This award recognizes the contributions of an LMBA member in a new or noteworthy space. It is not given every year, and only to extraordinary individuals. Past winners include Paula Boggs (2019) and Rep. Jamila Taylor (2024).
Excellence in the Legal Profession: This honor is awarded to a LMBA member who has achieved an exceptional outcome in a recent matter, or otherwise made an outstanding contribution to the legal community.
Young Lawyer Award: This award recognizes the contributions of a LMBA member to LMBA or the legal community. The award recipient must be within five years of admission or under 36-years old.
Social Justice Award: This award is presented to a lawyer, non-lawyer, or law firm for outstanding cumulative efforts in challenging injustice and valuing diversity.
