Position Description –

Job Responsibilities –

What You’ll Do:

  • Supervise and Mentor Enforcement Staff: Lead a team of investigators, senior investigators, and paralegals. Assign and direct work, ensuring high-quality, timely completion. Provide training, mentorship, performance management, and professional development for team members.
  • Develop and Implement Policies: Work closely with the Enforcement Manager to develop, recommend, and implement improvements in policies, practices, and procedures. Guide the team in driving work plans and achieving organizational goals.
  • Build Collaborative Partnerships: Coordinate with both internal and external partners, sharing information, resources, and labor standards updates to enhance the effectiveness of labor law enforcement across Seattle.

You’ll Stand Out If You Bring:

  • Investigation Expertise: Prior experience with workplace investigations, particularly in wage and hour or EEOC discrimination cases, and familiarity with employment litigation or regulatory agencies is beneficial.
  • Legal Insight: A solid understanding of complex labor standards and legal processes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office (especially Excel for data-driven tasks), with a willingness to learn and adapt to databases like Dynamics and platforms like SharePoint.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual abilities in Cantonese, Mandarin, or Spanish are a plus, enhancing engagement with diverse communities.

Qualifications –

In addition to the ability to complete the tasks mentioned above, you will need to possess the below required qualifications:


A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Social Science, Human Relations, or a closely related field.
AND
Two years of professional experience in enforcement or compliance investigation and two years supervisory or lead experience (may be concurrent).
AND
License: A valid Washington State Driver's License or evidence of equivalent mobility.

OR

A combination of education, training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class which will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.

 

Additional Information –

This full-time, benefits-eligible position is classified as a Civil Rights Analyst, Supervising in the City payroll system and is covered by the Civil Service system (Download PDF reader) and FLSA (eligible for overtime). The full pay range for this step-progression position is $52.30 - $60.85 per hour. New employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression, which is $52.30 hourly, with current City employees’ starting rates based on Personnel Rules regarding promotions.
