Corporate Counsel - Regulatory

Expedia Group is looking for a Corporate Counsel to join its Legal & Government Affairs Group (ELCA) working on North American vacation rental law regulatory matters and compliance. This position is part of the Regulatory, Litigation & Tax group at Expedia responsible for compliance with short-term rental laws and will report to Senior Corporate Counsel for U.S. short term rental laws. If you like being part of a small team working with senior leaders to build compliance programs, providing daily legal counsel, and enjoy working on e-commerce regulatory matters, this is the position for you.

What you'll do:
Contributing to and ensuring Expedia's vacation rental regulatory products, processes and operations timely and efficiently meet legal requirements in multiple jurisdictions, including reviewing and summarizing new laws and assisting with the development of regulatory products and compliance, applying risk-based assessments to consider how current products or operations should change in response to an ever-evolving regulatory environment
Providing legal advice and support to Expedia's VR Regulatory Operations team and related business groups to ensure that they understand and comply with applicable legal requirements, including conducting trainings, and presentations on legal matters


Engaging with government authorities on matters related to Expedia’s compliance with short term rental laws and responses to legal demands from governments related to vacation rentals
Work on external communications to vacation rental owners and/or governmental officials with other Expedia team.

Who you are:
5+ years of legal experience, preferably with 3+ of those years providing legal counsel and support for e-commerce regulatory matters
A J.D. degree (or equivalent related professional experience) and membership in good standing in Washington Bar
Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
Strong organizational and project management skills
Strong analytical and communication skills
Common sense, great judgment, and a good sense of humor
Strong team player with demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and efficiently with paralegals, assistants, other lawyers, and business clients
Strong, results orientation with a customer focus
Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
