Senior Paralegal
Description.
T-Mobile has an opportunity for a results-oriented Senior Paralegal in the T-Mobile Privacy Office within the T-Mobile Legal Department. This role helps ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, in particular those focused on consumer protection. This includes compliance with data security and data breach notification requirements in the Communications Act, data security obligations enforced through the FTC Act and state law equivalents, and other federal and state laws requiring notice of a breach of security impacting personal information.
This paralegal manages the administration of incident intake, evaluation, and processing, working closely with Fraud, Corporate Investigations, and other Legal staff, and with Customer Support teams. The role also involves tracking and reporting of company compliance performance and work to prepare and respond to customer inquiries. The role will have a major role in integrating these processes with operations of an acquired company in the event of a successful merger or acquisition.
What you'll do in your role.
Perform privacy impact analysis on information security incidents, and process incidents as required to ensure proper notification to law enforcement, regulatory agencies, impacted customers and in some cases partners or suppliers. Translate legal analysis of breach notice rules and processes into pragmatic and clear requirements for Fraud, Investigations, and Customer Support teams. Lead coordination between internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate flow of information, to keep records current and accurate, to manage information tools and identify tool requirements, and to identify and respond to needs for guidance or process improvements.
Details of this work involve:
Monitor information security and privacy incidents and fulfill breach response obligations;Respond to customer inquiries received by the Privacy Office;Support development and maintenance of policies & procedures;Translate policy requirements into operational and technical solutions;Work closely with the Director and Managing Corporate Counsel to ensure that customer operations procedures incorporate reasonable and effective safeguards for consumers;Identify and implement process and systems improvements;General privacy related team support and other duties as assigned.
The experience you'll bring.
At least 3-5 years of compliance management and privacy experienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceKnowledge of state and federal privacy, data security, and breach notification laws, regulations, industry best practices, or equivalent experience in compliance roles;Strong legal impact analysis skills;Experience in managing and developing privacy and consumer data programs and policies;Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, and progress multiple assignments;Technical writing skills producing clear and unambiguous deliverables;Strong personal computer skills including MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio);Compliance audit experience a plus;Strong understanding of telecommunications, internet and wireless technologies;Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills and a proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment;Mature and sound business judgment with strong attention to detail;Ability to work across various business functions and to facilitate meetings and collaborationPrefer experience within a public company and/or in the wireless industryParalegal Certificate strongly preferredIAPP Certification preferred (CIPP-US, CIPT or CIPM)
